Since 2004, the Wyoming Association of Professional Landmen has funded and provided a scholarship program as an additional benefit to active WAPL members and dependents of WAPL members.
The scholarship program places an added emphasis on education directly related to the energy business, or persons wishing to further their educations as Landmen, however this is not the sole requirement to qualify as an applicant. Scholarship categories include General (any field of study), Energy Business (geologist, etc.), Professional Land Management, and Professional Land Management at the University of Wyoming.
In recent years, WAPL has been a proud supporter and contributor to the PLM (Professional Land Management) concentration implemented in 2013 at the University of Wyoming as part of their Energy Resource & Development degree. This program is accredited by our master association (the AAPL), and is one of only a dozen programs in the entire country to offer such education. In the few years of the UW-PLM program’s existence, the WAPL scholarship program has awarded almost $35,000.00 to Wyoming PLM majors, to support their education.
